Double Bass Teacher | Bach to Rock® Music School — Herndon, VA

Bach to Rock® Music School in Herndon, VA is looking for a Double Bass Teacher to join our team of musician-educators. Double bass instructors are among the rarest and most sought-after in music education — if you play and love to teach, we want to talk.

At Bach to Rock, the double bass lives in every genre — from orchestral and jazz to rock, funk, and beyond. Our students come to us with all kinds of goals, and your versatility as an educator is what makes their lessons extraordinary. You'll teach private lessons to students of all ages in our professional Worldgate Centre studio, with full curriculum support and a team behind you.

What You'll Do:

  • Teach private double bass lessons to students of all ages and skill levels
  • Draw on multiple styles — orchestral, jazz, rockabilly, folk, and more
  • Personalize every lesson to the student's goals and musical interests
  • Track progress and maintain communication with students and parents
  • Contribute to a collaborative, professional school environment
Schedule & Availability:

  • Weekday afternoons and evenings (approx. 3PM–9PM)
  • Saturdays (9AM–5PM)
  • We'll build your schedule around your availability
Compensation — Tiered by Experience (W-2 Hourly):

  • Tier 1 — Entry/Developing Instructor: $17–$18/hr
  • Tier 2 — Established Instructor: $18–$20/hr
  • Tier 3 — Advanced/Specialist Instructor: $20–$22/hr
  • Tier 4 — Senior/Expert Instructor: $22–$25/hr
Who We're Looking For:

  • Strong double bass proficiency — orchestral, jazz, or both
  • Teaching experience preferred — passion and communication skills are equally important
  • Comfortable with students of all ages including young beginners
  • Reliable transportation to Herndon, VA
  • Must pass a background check
