Cello Teacher | Bach to Rock® Music School — Herndon, VA

Bach to Rock® Music School in Herndon, VA is looking for a skilled Cello Teacher to join our team of professional musician-educators. If you're a cellist who loves sharing the instrument with students — from curious beginners to developing players — we'd love to meet you.

At Bach to Rock, the cello isn't limited to the concert hall. Our students explore classical repertoire, contemporary pop arrangements, film scores, and everything in between. Your job is to be the guide who makes the journey possible — meeting each student where they are and helping them fall in love with the instrument.

What You'll Do:

  • Teach private cello lessons to students of all ages and skill levels
  • Cover a wide range of styles and repertoire based on student interest
  • Build personalized lesson plans grounded in Bach to Rock's curriculum framework
  • Track student progress and communicate proactively with parents
  • Help students prepare for Bach to Rock's performance opportunities
Schedule & Availability:

  • Weekday afternoons and evenings (approx. 3PM–9PM)
  • Saturdays (9AM–5PM)
  • Schedule built around your availability and performing commitments
Compensation — Tiered by Experience (W-2 Hourly):

  • Tier 1 — Entry/Developing Instructor: $17–$18/hr
  • Tier 2 — Established Instructor: $18–$20/hr
  • Tier 3 — Advanced/Specialist Instructor: $20–$22/hr
  • Tier 4 — Senior/Expert Instructor: $22–$25/hr
Who We're Looking For:

  • Strong cello proficiency with stylistic versatility
  • Prior teaching experience preferred — emerging instructors with genuine passion welcome
  • Warm, patient, and encouraging with students of all ages including young beginners
  • Reliable transportation to our Herndon studio
  • Must pass a background check
