Guitar Instructor – Private Lessons | Bach to Rock® Herndon

Bach to Rock® Music School in Herndon, VA is hiring a Guitar Instructor to teach private lessons at our professional studio in the WorldGate Centre. This is a W-2, part-time position with flexible hours — perfect for working musicians, music educators, and passionate performers who want a reliable teaching income on their schedule.

Our students range from young beginners (ages 5+) to adults, and they come to us because they want to learn the music they care about. Your job is to meet them where they are and make every lesson worth coming back for.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, structured private guitar lessons to students of varied ages and skill levels
  • Adapt teaching style and repertoire to each individual student's goals
  • Maintain accurate lesson notes and progress tracking
  • Communicate proactively with parents of younger students
  • Participate in Bach to Rock's performance and recital events as needed
Schedule:

  • Afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays available
  • Minimum availability of ~10 hours/week preferred
Pay Scale (W-2 Hourly):

  • $17–$18/hr — Currently enrolled in music degree OR 1–2 years teaching experience
  • $18–$20/hr — Completed Bachelor's in Music/Music Ed OR 4–6 years teaching
  • $20–$22/hr — Master's degree OR 7–10 years teaching/performance
  • $22–$25/hr — PhD or equivalent OR 10+ years high-level teaching and performance
Requirements:

  • Proficiency in guitar across multiple styles
  • Reliable transportation to Herndon, VA
  • Must clear a background check
  • Experience teaching children strongly preferred
