Bach to Rock Herndon is a modern music school where students learn through private instruction and performance opportunities (recitals, bands/ensembles, camps, and events). We teach kids, teens, and adults in a professional, upbeat environment.
Position Overview
We’re hiring a Low Brass Instructor to teach private lessons on trombone and, ideally, one or more additional low brass instruments (euphonium/baritone and/or tuba). The right candidate can teach clear fundamentals, build strong readers, and help students become confident performers.
Responsibilities
- Teach private lessons (and occasional small groups) on trombone and/or low brass.
- Develop student fundamentals: tone production, breathing, slide/position accuracy (as applicable), articulation, reading/literacy, and repertoire.
- Use structured practice methods: slow practice, chunking, repetition, measurable goals.
- Prepare students for recitals and performance opportunities.
- Communicate clearly with families about progress and practice expectations.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency on trombone; additional low brass ability strongly preferred.
- Teaching/youth leadership experience preferred; performance experience a plus.
- Professional, reliable, consistent weekly availability.
- Reliable transportation to our location.
