About Bach to Rock Herndon
Bach to Rock (“B2R”) is a modern music school where students of all ages learn the songs they love, build confidence, and perform. At Bach to Rock Herndon, we offer private lessons, group classes, bands/ensembles, early childhood programs, camps, and events. We combine structured instruction with performance opportunities in a professional, high-energy environment.
About the Brass Instructor Role
We are hiring a Brass Instructor to teach private lessons (and occasional small groups) on one or more brass instruments (e.g., trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium/baritone, tuba). Students range from beginners through advanced, and we prioritize instructors who can teach strong fundamentals (tone, breathing, articulation, reading, and musicianship) in a clear, kid-friendly way.

What You’ll Do
  • Teach 30- and 60-minute private brass lessons (and occasional small groups).
  • Build lesson plans tailored to each student’s age, level, and goals.
  • Teach core fundamentals: tone production, breathing, articulation, technique, reading/literacy, and repertoire.
  • Prepare students for recitals and performance opportunities.
  • Communicate professionally with parents/guardians and adult students regarding progress and practice expectations.
  • Maintain consistent weekly availability and reliable attendance.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong proficiency on at least one brass instrument; multi-brass ability is a plus.
  • Teaching experience and/or youth leadership experience strongly preferred; performance background a plus.
  • Comfortable working with kids and families; professional and dependable.
  • Reliable transportation to our location.
  • Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule, especially weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays.
Hiring Process
  • Phone interview
  • On-site audition + mock lesson (guidelines provided in advance)
  • Offer contingent on successful background check
Schedule & Pay
  • Part-time, hourly (lesson-based schedule; hours vary with enrollment).
  • Peak hours: weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays.
  • Pay is tiered based on education and experience:
    • Tier 1 (Entry/Developing): $17–$18/hr
    • Tier 2 (Established): $18–$20/hr
    • Tier 3 (Advanced/Specialist): $20–$22/hr
Compensation: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
